OUR MISSION

Mission Statement

The mission of the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is to deter, prevent, investigate and prosecute predators who seek to exploit or engage minors in sexual activity through the use of computers and the internet. The Task Force will engage in reactive and proactive investigations targeting those offenders who are actively involved in this type of criminal activity. Additionally, the Task Force will participate in a statewide effort to educate the public on issues regarding Internet safety for children. Training opportunities are available to Task Force affiliates so they can become familiar with the most current trends and developments in the area of online child exploitation.

ABOUT

About Our Community

Community Outreach & Education

Iowa ICAC Task Force: A vital community resource raising awareness about online dangers to protect children from exploitation, cyber-bullying, and other internet-related crimes.

The Iowa lnternet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a strong community resource in the effort to educate the general public and law enforcement about the risks and potential hazards that are present while online and increase awareness of the recommended safeguards that can help to prevent the victimization of our children.

An unfortunate truth is that we cannot "arrest our way out" of this problem. The goal of the ICAC Task Force community outreach initiative is to raise awareness while decreasing the size of the potential victim pool. The Iowa lCAC Task Force offers a variety of public educational and community awareness programs for schools, youth organizations, civic organizations, companies, and almost any other group specifically designed to present current and accurate information regarding the very real danger of online child sexual exploitation. These programs also address other serious problems including sexting, cyber-bullying, sextortion or harassment, and other behaviors that have in some cases led to the deaths of children. Many of these acts are done without knowledge or concern for the fact that a serious crime may be committed and can result in youth becoming involved with the criminal justice system.
